About the Boat
Why Tardis?

TARDIS stands for Time And Relative Dimension In Space.  It's the name of the spaceship used by Dr. Who in the British science fiction TV series of that name.  We picked the name because we always felt that the perfect boat would be small on the outside (what's smaller than a phone booth?), huge on the inside (multi-dimensional - can't be any larger than that!), and can take you anywhere you want.

About American Tugs

American Tugs are built by Tomco Marine Group in La Conner, Washington.  When we went looking for a new boat, we had several items on our 'must have' list.  We needed a boat that had standing head room for Jeremy (6'4" minimum), a queen size berth that you can get into from either side (no more crawling into a V-berth),  a separate shower with standing head room and  room enough to actually take a shower, a real fridge/freezer (no more ice boxes - and dragging 50lb blocks of ice to the boat every week or so), a good propane stove with an oven, galley sinks large enough to actually get a pot into, thought out storage for the dingy (not just strapped to the foredeck, where it barely fit and was a bear to launch when needed), and an engine room that provided decent access to the engine.  Plus, we wanted all of it in a small package that would be easy to handle between the two of us while still feeling large and comfortable on the inside.

We found all that and more in our American Tug 34.  We found her up in Seattle when we went up to Passage Maker Yachts up on Lake Union to look at another boat.  We spotted her, and realized that we'd found our boat when we stepped on board.  She was almost a year old, but had not really been used at all when we found her (only 25 hours on the engine).  We took delivery and spent a wonderful summer and early fall up in Seattle and the San Juan islands getting to know her before heading out, turning south and taking her home to the San Francisco bay area.
