- Technical writer responsible for all customer technical documents for the
CRIS (Customer Risk Identification Service) Taiwan project.
- Documents included hardware and software technical specifications.
- Project manager in the Year 2000 project office.
- Project manager and lead for the VEBBS (Visa Electronic Bulletin Board)
application, a Web-based application running on Visa’s Intranet which was
used globally by Visa’s Year 20000 Event Management Centers to manage events
during the year 2000 transition period. Gathered and consolidated the
requirements from business centers located in Sydney, Singapore, London,
Toronto, Miami, and San Mateo. Performed the analysis, developed the design,
recruited for and built the development team, acquired the hardware, and
managed the development and implementation of VEBBS. The application was
developed using Cold Fusion version 4.0 and ran on a SQL server 6.5
database.
- Worked on the implementation of Visa’s Year 2000 Member Test service.
The service was a test service available globally to all of Visa’s members
used to certify that the member’s interface to Visa was year 2000 compliant.
The service included all VIP and BASE II software and ran in a repeating 14
day cycle consisting of year 2000 transition dates as well as the leap year
and the transition from 2000 to 2001. Worked on the documentation and user
guides which were distributed world-wide to all Visa member banks and
processors.
- Developed all technical member documentation for the CRIS (Customer Risk
Identification Service) for the planned installation of the service in
Taiwan. Documentation included Technical Interface specifications, Network
Design specifications, and Hardware and Systems Software specifications.
Documents were designed to be translated into Chinese.

- Responsible for performing data analysis and mapping of data between the
ATBS application and the PRISM billing application for the Billing
Convergence project, which was designed to migrate the data from the PRISM
billing system into the ATBS application. Traveled extensively between
Walnut Creek, Columbus and Los Angeles to interview the subject matter
experts and gain an understanding of the applications.
- Developed an application using Microsoft’s Access product to track the
mapping of the data elements between ATBS and PRISM. At the time, the PRISM
application included 1422 data elements held in an IDMS database plus 24
permanent RMS files. The ATBS application included 4604 data elements held
in an RDB database running under VMS with 209 tables, 3 Oracle databases
running under UNIX, plus 20 permanent RMS files.
- Responsible for developing technical documentation for ATBS (AirTouch
Billing System).
Wells Fargo

- Lead programmer/analyst on WEBS (Wells Electronic Banking System). WEBS
is an online customer information and account management system composed of
over 2000 batch jobs and over 1000 CICS modules. It is used by the entire
corporation to manage customer accounts. Application was written in COBOL II
using DB2 and VSAM data access methods running under CICS.
- During the merger with First Interstate bank, was responsible for
mapping customer data between the First Interstate and Wells Fargo banking
systems. Developed conversion programs to extract and merge customer data
from First Interstate into the WEBS databases.

- Analyst, designer, programmer and technical writer at a large credit
card corporation.
- Responsible for analysis and design of the reporting portion of the new
VisaNet Settlement Service (VSS). Design constraints included ensuring that
settlement reports for all 600 processors could be generated within a one
hour window. Design included the use of parallel processing and the
extensive use of in-core tables to meet this criteria.
- Responsible for writing the member guide which provided member banks
with technical information and user interface specifications about the new
settlement service. Document was translated into several languages and
distributed world-wide.
- Responsible for publication of a 900-page Detail Design document and a
200-page Detail Design Summary document. Documents were written in Microsoft
WORD 6.0 using Power Point and ABC Flowcharter for all charts and diagrams.

- Contract analyst/designer/programmer at a large telecommunications
company.
- Responsible for designing the complex pricing routines of a new rate and
pricing system for very large Business Customers, using historical
information from large DB2 Databases.
- Coded and tested COBOL/CICS/DB2 programs, using SDFII Screen Generator,
Brownstone Data Dictionary, and XPEDITER test tools.
- Developed innovative interface between the CICS mainframe application
and PC workstations for downloading data and printing reports. Design
requirements included being able to print reports either to a JES printer or
to a local LAN HP Laserjet printer depending on the user’s preference.
Design included common report modules which were callable in either the
batch or CICS environment.
- Performed in-depth System and Performance Testing. Worked closely with
DBAs to optimize and tune the DB2 retrievals.

- Responsible for the installation of the CCC librarian product, which was
acquired to manage over 10,000 components of an Employee
Information System.
- Responsible for developing procedures, standards and training for use of the
product.
- Responsible for all aspects of the development of a Transmission
Distribution system including
budgeting, scheduling, analysis and design. Systems analysis and design was
completed using the Knowledgeware ADW Analysis and Design CASE tools. System
was implemented using a DB2 database running under CICS.
- Traveled extensively throughout the state gathering system requirements
from all levels of the client community.
- Developed innovative utility programs which enabled users to customize
color attributes, function key assignments and error messages for the
applications.
- Senior Development Center Specialist with primary responsibility for the
support of the CICS code generator PROTON—a systems development tool,
similar to TELON, used
for the prototyping and code generation of all COBOL CICS applications
developed by FPL programmers.
- Worked on Development Center Help desk providing technical assistance to
staff of over 200 programmers.
- Developed and taught training classes for a variety of programmer
development tools.
- Responsible for evaluation, selection and installation of various
programmer development tools.
- Active member of the CICS advisory committee.
